Quick tips on what to eat before/after workout!

Fuel your body to maximize your energy during workouts, support recovery, and optimize muscle building!

If you've been feeling sluggish or drained during your workouts, one thing that can help is adjusting what you're eating around workouts!

"What should I eat before/after workouts?"

Before:

-Aim for mostly protein and carbs

-Try to minimize fats/fiber (they take longer to digest and can make you feel full/sluggish during your workouts)

-Examples: Hard boiled eggs + banana, grilled chicken + rice and vegetables, Greek yogurt + fruit and honey

Mid Workout:

Quick and easy to digest carbs to give you a boost of energy. Liquid protein is also okay.

Examples: Protein + carb shake, rice cakes (crowd fave), fruit, baby food, breakfast cereal

After Workout Out:

Large, well rounded, high quality meal with lots of protein and carbs. If you don't have time to make a meal immediately after - grab a protein shake or bar!

Examples: Chicken thighs and sweet potatoes, or lean steak, some olive oil, and asparagus

*If training super early in the morning: it’s okay to be fasted, but make sure to prioritize getting in a large protein and carb-filled dinner the night before. You could also follow the breakfast ideas, but just in smaller portions if you don’t have time to digest a lot of food. Or swap out the carb sources for easy to digest sources like a banana.
