Travel Snack Ideas

Entering into the holiday season means it's travel season for some of us. One of the hardest parts of long travel days, for me at least, is getting enough food and hydration. Your options are either paying 35 thousand dollars on an airport lunch (real numbers), snacking on airplane cookies (but, like not mad about those), or waiting to eat until you arrive at your destination, while trying not to go full hangry mode.

So what to do with this problem?? PACK SNACKS.

Before a trip, we always stock up on jerky snacks and protein bars. These are great for travel days and to have during the trip for extra protein and between meal snacking.

Here are some of our favorite travel snacks:

Jerky

Fruit

Hard Boiled Eggs

Tuna Packets

Rice Cakes

RX Bar, Perfect Bar Travel Size, or Other Protein Bars

Protein Powder (Bring a shaker and add water once you're through security)

Nuts

Alyssa's Healthy Chocobites

If you opt for perishable snacks, bring a small insulated lunch bag. Inside we pack berries and other fruit, travel sized Perfect Bars, and hard boiled eggs. You're not making any friends with hard boiled eggs on the plane, but who needs new friends on an airplane anyway? Stasher bags are also great for carrying fruit, eggs, nuts, turkey, and other snacks.

Remember that liquid or gel food items larger than 3.4oz are not allowed in carry-on bags, so watch out for drinks, shakes, baby food snacks. At this point, I can't count the number of times I've packed Fuel for Fires and had them taken out in security. Maybe this next trip I'll remember.

Happy Travel Snacking!
